Wrangell- St. Elias

Wrangell-St Elias Nat Park

Day 7

Finally we arrived in Alaska, crossing the border just after midnight and still light. We got up early hoping to get well into Alaska but giving up on eating breakfast in Anchorage.

We did want to stop at Wrangell-St. Elias especially since Elias is along. Also we'd followed the mountains for some time, the views breathtaking.

At one stop we were reminded that not everyone is having the time of their life. We'd stopped to shoot photos of a glacier when we noticed a small group of people walking to the edge, most wearing black and carrying flowers. As we walked by a young woman was crying while 2 men carried a box, a shovel and a plant down the hill. The men dug a small hole and emptied the contents of the box into it then planted the shrub. We decided that we liked that idea for our ashes.
